The 2008 NMD/Mountain Dew Gissy Pro was all wrapped up on Saturday 25th October 2008 after a solid 12 hour day of competition that finished just before dark. Competition took place on Wainui Beach at the well known Chalets break. Competitors surfed in changing conditions throughout the day in workable 2-4 ft waves with some good sections with potential for some great high scoring waves.
2008 Australasian National Titles NZ Team – The End
Overall this years NZ Bodyboard Team trip to the Australasian Titles was a huge success. We had two finalists to add to the results above in Mihi Wells and Jolan Kilkelly. Mihi placed 4th in the Masters final and Jolan finished up 4th in the DK. These are both excellent results given the talent on offer in Oz and NZ!!
Richard McKenna did NZ proud with his amazing effort in the Pro Mens event of the Port Mac Pro finishing up 7th=. This is one of the best results by a NZ bodyboarder in a Pro event of all time!! Awesome work Dixie!!

2008 Australasian National Titles NZ Team Update – Day Whateveritis
Day Whateveritis
A great day for the team over the last 2 days at the Australasian National titles. Yesterday we have the start of the pro event and had 4 people up surfing in the Open Mens. Unfortunately Ben McPaike didn’t progress through the first round but Richard McKenna, Luke Elliot and Steve Abraham all made it through. Later yesterday afternoon the second round swung in to action and the three guys were up again and as they had done earlier all of them progressed through round 2 and in to round three. Round 2 had some guys seeded through including former 2x World Champ Damien King and Michael Novy. Round three was up at the end of the day and unfortunately was the end of the line for Luke and Steve who were both eliminated after some excellent surfing all day. Richard McKenna however powered through his heat and in to the forth round with some excellent surfing.

2008 Australasian National Titles NZ Team Update – Day 3
Day 3
Day 3, Monday 15th September was the first day of the 2008 Australasian Titles and got underway at 9am. The call for the day was to surf the Junior divisions through to the semi finals while there were some small contestable waves on offer. Early in the day there were some wind affected 2ft waves on offers for the riders to contest. Our 2 junior riders were seeded straight through to the second round due to their results on the BBSNZ tour. Luke Elliot was up first and surfed a well structured, powerful heat, linking several spin/roll combos on a couple of waves to progress through to the quarter finals in 2nd position.
2008 Australasian National Titles NZ Team Update – Day 2
Day 2
Day two we woke up after a well deserved nights sleep in Port Macquarie and got straight in to some team building exercises and just a general run down of the team rules etc. It was a fun morning and got everyone in to the swing of things and in a good mood for the week ahead.
Most of the crew headed out for an early surf and bumped in to local teller of tales John who clued them up on how great Port Mac was.
The rest of the day was a lay day with most of the team choosing to head out for a surf at Breakwall with the rest of Port Mac and Australias bodyboarding population and then having a look around town. It was a good mellow day of rest and preperation with the national titles starting the next day on Monday.
2008 Australasian National Titles NZ Team Update – Day 1

Day 1
Hey all
I will be doing these updates and getting heat info etc up as soon and regularly as I can.
Day 1 started off early for most of us with the team getting flights from all around the country. The North Island contingent arrived first at Sydney airport at about 7.30am and met up with Assistant Manager/Coach/Mascot Mitch Frew. We hung around the airport and waited for the rest of the crew to arrive before loading ourselves and luggage in to shuttle busses to head in to Central Sydney to pick up our rental cars.
2008 Britz/Interislander Blaketown Challenge Roadie
Over 2000km’s travelled. 15 petrol stops. 35 heats surfed. 2 Lakes visited and 4 gorges conquered and The 2008 Britz/Interislander Blaketown Challenge Roadie had come to an end.
The roadie chugged along from Auckland to Greymouth and back all within 6 days. The aim was to compete at the 2008 NMD/Mountain Dew Blaketown Challenge and for a number of The 2008 Britz/Interislander Blaketown Challenge Roadie riders the goal was to place solidly across one of the five divisions.
